NDN: GLSEN gives teachers resources for LGBT-friendly classrooms

NAPLES Fla. – Local Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) leaders were getting ready to host a training session for Collier County educators at the Naples Pride Center on Sept. 13 when protesters arrived.

In a matter of minutes, protesters began harassing teachers as they were getting out of their cars. The protesters took photos of the teachers and their license plates.

But GLSEN leadership wants educators to know that protesters won’t stop them from providing resources and guides on how to create safe environments for LGBT students. With new Florida laws that limit what teachers can do and say in the classroom, GLSEN leadership say it’s more important than ever to be informed.
